rockpaperscissors was born out of a curiosity for the materials around us. Surrounded by basic construction materials on our sites - concrete, ply, paper, fabric, and more. We began to see the potential they hold. These materials find a place in our lives through furniture, lighting, and collectibles, all while adding a conscious layer of sustainability.

liquidply, a collection of lamps and furniture is a result of experiments with waste plywood. By upcycling this waste, gluing together small pieces of wood and plywood and turning them on a lathe we produce functional objects with sinuous patterns.

The project is a celebration of the anatomy of plywood, particularly its commonly hidden cross-section. The layers of plywood, the deliberate geometry of assembly, and the process of wood-turning produce distinctive patterns on the curved shapes.

Our signature collection, Liquidply, is built around a deceptively simple process: plywood offcuts are assembled into solid blocks, then hand-turned on a lathe to reveal the sinuous patterns formed by the cross sectional grains.This is our approach to eco-friendly home design. Every object is designed and made in-house, from first sketch to finished form.

What makes rockpaperscissors furniture sustainable?

Every piece is made from plywood offcuts sourced from construction sites, ply manufacturing units and scrap dealers material that would otherwise be discarded. The offcuts are glued into solid blocks and hand-turned on a lathe, so no new timber is used to create the finished piece.

Is rockpaperscissors a furniture manufacturer or a design studio?

What does the liquidply collection include?

The collection spans sculptural wooden lighting (table, floor, pendant, and wall lamps) and furniture including tables
and stools, and a range of home decor objects and hardware such as knobs
& handles. Every piece is hand-turned from upcycled plywood and belongs to a continuous material inquiry rather than a fixed product catalogue.



Why does the grain pattern look different on every piece?

Every object is turned from a uniquely assembled block of plywood offcuts, no two
pieces share the same grain. The cross-sectional anatomy of the material its
layers, its geometry, its history is revealed differently each time. This is not a by-product of the process. It is the point.
